Moonscape AMA Recap with Decentralized Club
On the 22nd of October, 2021, Kerel Verwaerde, CMO of Seascape Network, and Erlan Reverol, Game Designer at Moonscape, were live on the Decentralised Club Community, to provide the community with insights about the soon-to-be-launched Moonscape game, and also address the questions and queries provided by Community members. The session was moderated by May Gusta.
SEGMENT 1: Interview with AMA Moderator
Question 1 — Can you tell us about Moonscape and the goals that led to the creation?
Erlan Reverol — Moonscape is a fresh twist on resource management strategy games. Players explore a futuristic moon, enhancing their cities and receiving rewards for their time spent in-game. This online strategy city-builder will allow users to collect resources and use DeFi mechanics, plunder rival cities, and work together with allies in the pursuit of Moon-domination and unending profits!
Question 2 — What innovative solution is Moonscape bringing to topple its competitors with similar offerings in GameFi?
Erlan Reverol — Moonscape will allow NFTs to be obtained and used directly in the game. Many players of strategy games spend hours or days improving and upgrading their bases and vehicles. In Moonscape, you can take that hard work and turn it into an NFT that will contain all the data of your city or vehicle, and trade it or sell it.
Question 3 — Are there any P2E or W2E incentives on Moonscape?
Kerel — First of all, Moonscape will have several DeFi functions such as staking tokens and NFTs. There will also be a variety of pools, giving players the opportunity to earn rewards. But worry not, for all of the upgrades, new rovers and buildings can be obtained through regular gameplay.
And finally, players will be able to use the DeFi features of some of their allies, enjoying the pools and advantages they have unlocked, like giving the ally a percentage of their earnings!
Question 4 — Can you tell us about $MSCP and the utilities?
Kerel — MoonDust is a material unique to the Moonscape ecosystem which can be obtained by spending MSCP, providing improvements to resources and DeFi.
Additionally, all players who have spent MSCP will receive an allotment of a collective pool of MoonDust at the end of each season. The more refined dust you add to the pool, the larger it gets, along with your individual allotment!
The more players spend, the higher the chances of obtaining special rewards for all players!
Question 5 — What major news should we still look forward to from Moonscape by the end of the year?
Erlan Reverol — Soon we will hold the IDO for Moonscape, you can find more details on the lighthouse website.
But also, we are planning to release a closed beta to let players have a first-hand try at Moonscape as well as also help us improve the game through their valuable feedback and ideas. The Player’s opinion is extremely important for me.
Kerel — Also guys if you want more info you could look at the project page info. And make sure to take a look at the website. But most of all, we made an awesome trailer. I highly encourage you guys to go check out.
SEGMENT 2: Twitter Questions
Twitter Question 1 — Users do not need cryptocurrency wallets to play and enjoy Moonscape. Where can the income obtained by those players without wallets be deposited? What other facilities do you offer to non-regular users of cryptocurrencies?
Erlan Reverol — The game will only contain Cryptocurrency monetization. Moonscape can be played without the need for a crypto wallet, and most of the gameplay functions will be available. But when players want to use any of the DeFi functions or P2E, a wallet is necessary.
Twitter Question 2 — The Lighthouse Project is the DeFi gaming launchpad of Seascape Network. I understand Moonscape is the pioneer project on this launchpad. When is the IDO holding and have there been any other new games since the launch of Moonscape?
Kerel — Some dates to keep in mind are early November for IDO and token launch closer to December. Other games will of course be coming and we already know the next ones so stay tuned. But the best that’s coming is BLOCKLORDS 3D, a vastly improved remake of our flagship grand strategy medieval game. It will be one of the biggest projects that will be launched using the Lighthouse Project.
Twitter Question 3— I like GameFi AMAs because I like gaming. Interested in knowing what the economical incentives available on your games are? How much can I make in about 12 hours and what is the reward currency? MSCP$ or ETH$ or BNB$?
Erlan Reverol — Let me take this one, as one of my focuses was making very good incentives for the game. First, Moonscape will contain a variety of pools for the P2E functions, several tokens, LP, NFTs.
As it happens in similar types of staking options, the earnings will depend on the amount or type of token staked, APR, TVL, etc. Stay tuned for more information and details about the pools available for the first season, as well as the rewards that can be obtained. Believe me, it will be juicy 🧃
SEGMENT 3: Website Questions
Website Question 1 — Since constantly each player in your ecosystem focuses on growing your city and improving your power, could it be said that at a certain time a player with a good level of power can conquer enemy cities and/or other players or on the contrary, this will still or never be possible?
Erlan Reverol — Balance and fun are very important for my game design, let me answer. Players can attack the city of other players, but it is not possible to fully conquer or eliminate another player’s city.
While veteran players may possibly have higher skill levels and tactical advantage, (gameplay is important in city battles) fully destroying the city of another player will generate extra rewards for the attacker, but the defender won’t lose the city; they will be able to use it and all its function, after the battle.
In addition, we will implement several systems to balance city battles and make sure that players always have chances for a good fight.
Website Question 2— Regarding the native token of your project, specifically called MSCP, I read that it is directly related to a premium resource that you mention called “MoonDust” which is present in your ecosystem and/or game, but what are the advantages and benefits that such a premium resource provides?
Kerel — As you've said there will be a premium currency which players will be able to use in several ways. The first one would be to use it to facilitate conveniences, such as accelerating the construction of buildings or extractors. A very interesting feature to have in a game like Moonscape.
Players will be able to spend or stake it in the main hub and increase resource availability for all players, get extra bonuses in the P2E features, and even obtain a part of the total pool of Moondust at the end of the season. Also, players can earn several incentives such as NFTs and rewards.
Website Question 3— To reward players, can Moonscape game assets be upgraded and converted into profitable NFTs that can be minted and traded?
Erlan Reverol — Yes. In Moonscape, all the rovers and cities can be turned into NFTs. When the player mint an NFT, stats such as buildings, levels, and skills will be added to NFT data.
This will reward players who spend hours playing and improving their features, and who would like to exchange them with players who do not have the same amount of time to dedicate to play but would like the earning and gameplay potential. And such NFTs can be traded openly in the marketplace.
SEGMENT 4: Live Community Questions
Live Question 1 — I read that Moonscape is launched by the gaming launchpad lighthouse, and it is the first game. Can you tell us what are your expectations for the game? Will the game be free to all or do the users need to hold $MSCP or NFTs?
Kerel — The game will be playable for free so anyone can participate once the game is fully released. But to be able to earn you would need to hold some tokens and NFTs will help you further increase your earnings too.
Moonscape is indeed the first game launch of our lighthouse project but you can look forward to a lot more, and we are fully expecting moonscape to be a resounding success, so far we have had a great community response and are very excited to have the game live soon.
Live Question 2— Is Moonscape designed only for blockchain players or is it also accessible to traditional players? What is your plan to attract traditional players and integrate them into blockchain?
Erlan Reverol — Moonscape is designed for both, traditional gamers who also want to enjoy DeFi and blockchain-focused enthusiasts. Players will enjoy a fun and entertaining game that also let then earn and win rewards when they connect their wallet. The game is meant to include great features that traditional strategy/city-building players will greatly enjoy.
Live Question 3— You mention that the IDO users must have certain levels to be able to participate, could you tell us about the different levels we can choose and the advantages of each one?
Kerel — There are what we call Tiers, generally speaking, the higher the tier the better for you. Being tier 3 would allow you to participate in round 1 (for tier 3 only) of the Random allotment, if you win, Great🥳, if not you go to round 2 (tier 2 and 3), and so on for round 3, if you lose after round 3 that’s where another unique part of our platform comes in to play: the Auction!
In the auction, there will be several pooled tokens and you will be able to spend ONLY ONCE for a portion of those tokens. At the end of your tokens, you will then receive the % of your spent tokens compared to the total spent in the tokens project.
This means that for every person with at least tier! that participates in the IDO, they are GUARANTEED to get some of the project tokens as long as they participate and spend.
Do note that all allotments will come into the form of NFTs, but not immediately after the IDO.
Live Question 4— Can you explain the importance of Rovers? Why should we create one? Are there several types of Rovers? What are the function of each one and their skills?
Erlan Reverol — Rovers are key in the Moonscape game. You use them to move around the map, collect resources from the extractors, fight aliens and attack other cities. Players will be able to upgrade certain skills on each rover, making them faster, more accurate, sturdier, stronger.
There are a variety of rovers too, and the difference between them is the level cap for the skills. For example, most rovers will be able to upgrade Attack to level 10, but the attack focused rover will be able to upgrade to Level 15. Better or higher-level rovers will offer advantages in certain areas and specific gameplay features of the game. And, as explained, these can be turned into NFT, keeping all the skill levels, and trade.
